Google Analytics is one of the better website statistic programs out there, and thanks to google’s amazing marketing it has become the most popular.

With facebook comments/likes/etc and many google features being integrated into almost all major website, google can literally track your every move on the Internet. One way to stop that is by telling your browser to not let google analytics record your visit to a website.

So, whether it is a privacy issue or, as me, an issue when developing websites and getting a distorted analytics, as it counts my activities on the website as a regular visitor, here are some ways to stop google from tracking you activity on the net.

Why? Because they look at the mainstream media/news with a saner view, and it really is the only way I am able to consume mainstream news. The REAL news are not on TV… turn off the damn tube and get online.

Both shows can be watched online directly from the respective websites (here and here) the day after they aired, and for the real junkie they are available via torrent almost instantly after airing. Thanks to torrents, I actually watched all shows from 2009 and currently catch up on 2008.

Both shows are in the good sense of humor, but feature real news, events and people. It is amazing how they manage to put everything in perspective so that you can easily see what is really going on, while mostly featuring footage from other “real” news channels. For example, they catch politician totally contradicting themselves, one time saying “yey” and then later in another video saying “I would never ever agree to that”. They also expose channels like Fox News for being biased, my favorite slogan for Fox News that The Daily Show came up with is: FOX NEWS : We alter reality. You are being sold a preconceived narrative.

In meinem Freundeskreis gibt es mitlerweile 3 Leute die eine Anzeige bekommen haben weil sie Raubkopien von Software oder Musik etc aus dem Internet runtergeladen haben und dabei erwischt wurden. Die Geldstrafe war jedesmal ganz schoen hoch… so hoch, dass es sich lohnen wuerde einen Service wie btguard.com zu nutzen.

Firmen wie MediaSentry sammeln die IP Adressen in den P2P Protokollen von Filesharing Programmen wie zB BitTorrent oder emule, diese Protokolle beinhalten die Informationen ueber welche Dateien zu welchen Zeitpunt von einer bestimmten IP heruntergeladen wurde. Die Besitzer der Urheberrechte beauftragen dann Anwaelte ueber den Internetanbieter (wie zB Telekom oder Ewetel usw) den Namen und die Adresse des Kunden herauszufinden dem zu dem Zeitpunkt die IP Adresse zugeteilt war als in dem P2P Protokoll stand.

Btguard ist ein service bei dem man anonym ueber einen Server in Canada auf torrent files zugreifen kann, dank der gesetzlichen Privatssphere werden keine Protokolle ueber die Nutzer des Servers gefuehrt und so ist es unmoeglich fuer andere die IP Adresse herauszufinden. Ohne die IP Adresse ist es unmoglich zurueckverfolgt zu werden.

Es gibt ein Minuspunkt bei btguard.com, die Verbindung zwischen dem Nutzer und dem Server von btguard ist nicht verschluesselt, so ist moeglich fuer den Internetservice Provider zu sehen was man runterlaedt. Soweit ich weiss verschwendet kein ISP seine Zeit/Geld damit herauszufinden ob der Datenverkehr evtl. ein Download von einer Raubkopie ist und es waere in Deutschland eh illegal die Daten unaufgefordert weiterzugeben. Es waere eine gute Idee mal die “Privacy Policy”/Vertrag etc von eurem ISPs zu studieren, ich weiss dass in England zB nun einige ISPs den Traffic analysieren und selbst den Anwalt spielen.

Mich wuerde interesieren ob die Straftat darin besteht, dass ueber einen ANSCHLUSS heruntergeladen wurde, oder ob es darum geht WER es gewesen ist. Es kann ja zB sein, dass man einen Wireless Router ohne Verschluesselung hat und sich eine fremde Person via Wifi auf dem Router eingelogt hat um etwas herunterzuladen. Um es noch dramatischer zu machen, kann man den Wireless Router ja auch via WEP verschluesseln, eine Verschluesselung die man sehr Leicht hacken kann, und dann behaupten es sein ein Hacker gewesen der sich zum Router und damit Internet Zugang verschafft hat…

So far 3 friends of mine have been busted for downloading pirated software or music. The fine was pretty high, in fact so high it would be worth to use a service like the btguard.com

Companies like MediaSentry collect IP addresses on P2P protocols like BitTorrent, these protocols show which IP address has downloaded which file at a certain point in time. The right holders then send the IPs to a lawyer who contacts your ISP to find out the name and address of the person who used the IP address that was used to download their software or music or other intellectual property. Once they got that information, they will simply send you a letter and ask to pay a fine in a pretty high amount of money or threaten to take the matter to court.

Btguard is a a service with which you can download torrent files anonymously through a server in Canada. Thanks to Canada’s privacy laws, they don’t have to keep a record of what the people are doing through their server and are therefor not able to tell anyone who downloaded what at any time.

The only downside with btguard is that this is only a proxy service, so the traffic between the user and the server is not encrypted, which means that ISPs can (potentially) still monitor it. It is unlikely that the ISP will spend the time to find out if the traffic could be the download of a pirated file. Even if, it is illegal to pass on such information to third parties. You may wanna check your Privacy Policy on that one, different countries – different laws… in the UK, some the biggest ISPs do check the traffic and play the laywer themselves now. It is written in their Terms of Use / Privacy Policy.

It would be interesting to know if it has to be proven that YOU downloaded pirated stuff or if it’s enough to say that your connection was used. Because you could for example have a open wireless router so others can simply use your internet connection to download stuff. You could also be more dramatic about it and claim that someone must have hacked into your wireless router that was protected via the WEP encryption, it’s a common encryption that is supported by virtually ALL wireless router and it can be hacked very easily.

Been hearing a lot of discussions lately about the US’ plan to attack Iran, and did some digging for informations what the real intentions may be. So, I found this nice little video, it’s not brand new (Syndrome of Control isn’t either, though) but I think it brings it to the point.

What they didn’t mention is that Iran is building pipelines to India… Also, I have seen on the news that the oil price is predicted to double when the US attacks Iran, and knowing how the oil and the federal bank in the USA are connected, and that the more money oil costs the more money they are actually making… I believe the most simplistic answer to why the US is attacking Iran is once again: OIL/MONEY. Sad, and seems to become unrealistically normal these days…

Oh my, this is an extremely frustrating subject for people who make their money with the Internet, like me. If you like the Internet as it is today (or as you think it is), and want it to stay free and uncensored, then you really have to watch and share this video (in 5 parts) with everyone you know.
