Koh Talu – Paradise Island Dec 10

Hello everyone!

I just returned from Koh Talu, where my wife and me spend a beautiful weekend together with a friend who is currently visiting us from Germany.

Koh Talu is simply amazing, it has three beautiful white sand beaches, of which only two are developed with Thai style bungalows and resort facilities, the third beach is totally untouched and can only be reached by boat. If you are in Thailand, or better said around Hua Hin, then I suggest you visit Koh Talu, I am sure you will like it!

The main beach of Koh Talu

The island is privately owned, and therefor has only one resort. The resort offers two restaurants (one on each beach) and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Some might be thinking that 3900 Baht for a 1 night stay (including transportation) is expensive, but looking at what you get for your money it is is well worth it. Food is free and alcoholic beverages are cheap (80 Baht for a large Singha) and compared to the counterpart – the privately owned island Koh Nagyuan, where everything is expensive and nothing is free – Koh Talu offers everything you could possibly need on an island for free. You can go snorkeling, take a kayak around the island, or go on a little sailing trip with one of the “Hobi Cat” catamarans, all is FREE of charge!

There was a small group of Thais staying with us on the island, who wanted to make a BBQ grill evening on the beach. So the staff helped them prepare all the seafood and meat for the evening, they set up the grill on the beach and even organized a little fire show with music. It was truly an amazing evening with lots of fun. Two Danish couples were also staying on the island, they went on a night crap-hunting trip along the beach while the grill was being fired up, after their return just about everyone who was staying on that beach met at the beach bar for some cocktails.

All in all I must say, this was certainly not the last time I visited this little paradise, specially since it takes 3 hours from my house in Hua Hin until my feet touch the white sand beach. Much nicer that the long bus ride down to Chumporn when we went to Koh Nangyan for our 2nd honeymoon. I will write a little about Koh Nangyan another time, as it is also an amazing island, and if it weren’t so bloody expensive I would certainly go there again, too.
