Just an update... I am still in bed, can't sit but maybe max 5 minutes and that in constant pain that just becomes unbearable eventually. Also, I got to wear a Frankenstein costume (corset) for at least a year or so until I got strong enough back muscles to support my spine to be in a straight position. Doctors say total recovery will be about 2 years. I am through with motorbikes and will get me a car whenever I can actually sit in one...

I love my computer desk, even though using the computer is the only thing I can really do, apart from bitching, eating and sleeping... I'm grateful my wife is so easy with me. I couldn't stand myself sometimes, I think...

Spine Fusion, Jock. No complete x-ray, only segments, but you could piece them togehter I guess. The broken bone is called T8 by the way.

Just an update, I am home in bed. still can't sit or walk but the pain when rolling myself around is getting less... I actually can roll on my chest over one side without pain now :)

I am also starting to sit up and stand up/walk for a minute or so, as recommended by the doctor/specialist my mum contacted in Germany. However, putting my Frankenstein costume on takes longer than the time I can actually use it - before the pain gets too much and I got to go horizontal again.

A friend of mine built me a super geeky desk, it's basically 2 monitors where the surface of the table would be that are faced down. I am on my back underneath it looking up into the screens. This could well become a piece of furniture to keep! :) I'll upload some pictures eventually...

Which of these type of surgery (if any) does your doctor say may be required?

Information About Spine Surgical Procedures
Treatment for some spine conditions may involve surgery. This information focuses on common spine surgeries.

Cauda Equina Syndrome
Cauda equina syndrome is an emergency situation where the nerves in the lower spine are compressed and not working properly. Patients with cauda equina syndrome may require emergency surgery for treatment.

Spine Fusion
A spine fusion is a surgery that is performed to link together segments of the spinal column. These segments, or vertebrae, are individual bones that stacked together become the backbone. In spine fusion surgery, the vertebrae are linked together, or fused, so that motion cannot occur between the individual vertebrae.

Lumbar Disc Replacement
Lumbar disc replacement surgery is atreatment optionfor some types of low back pain. Not yet approved in the United States, lumbar disc replacement research is most active in Europe.

Discectomy & Endoscopic Miscrodiscectomy
A discectomy is performed to remove a fragment of herniated disc from the spinal canal. A herniated disc can cause pressure on the spinal nerves, the discectomy relieves that pressure. Endoscopic microdiscectomy is a similar procedure done through small incisions.

IDET - Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy
IDET, or Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy, is a procedure that is being done to treat discogenic back pain. IDET uses a probe inserted into the disc to heat the tissues within the affected disc.

Endoscopic Discectomy
A guide to this technique of spinal surgery in which a portion of the herniated or degenerated disc is removed.

No, the curve is the result, it should continue as straight as it starts at the bottom. I got an angle of about about 30 degrees in my back now, which I can/will compensate with muscle and therapy. From what I remember I made a 180 over my handlebar when the bike hit the tree and flew legs first for a good 20 meters. When I “landed” I was basically falling down/forwards legs first and hit the ground with my ass first. My guess is that my upper body wanted to continue and curved upwards while the force from falling down prevented me from rolling forwards for a moment thus putting all the force in my bend back on one point – that bone. Maybe you could compare it with bending a metal pipe, or a pole jump… or both - a pole jump with a metal pipe. Thinking about it, it is amazing what our body is able to do, you'd think it would just brake in half...

I've looked at that x-ray for a good while now and I still can't fathom out how the red shaded area turned out to be triangle shaped. Is the curve (including the green segments) normal?

Please people, if you know a doctor ask him/her to look at the x-ray and give an opinion or to pass it on to their colleagues. I need more input from doctors...

I don't believe in miracles and I never said I believe LMS is a miracle. LMS works for people who have gout (<a href="http://jimhumble.biz/biz-stories.htm" rel="nofollow">click here</a> ), but that's as far as it goes when it comes to bones or joints. I'm a strong believer in facts and/or evidence...

So! Get that LMS down your throat. You did refer to it being a "miracle" potion. Think about it! Keep your chin up mate.
